Political Activist and Blogger
Mahmoud Salem is a prominent Egyptian blogger and activist who writes under the name “Sandmonkey”. His blog, Rantings of a Sandmonkey, is one of the most followed English language blogs in the Arab world. He was a participant in the January 2011 Revolution which led to the end of Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule. Mahmoud has written for international publications including the Christian Science Monitor, the New York Times, The Daily Star and The Guardian.
