Independent publisher and editor
Hisham Kassem is one of Egypt’s most renowned publishers and democracy activist. He published Al-Masry Al-Youm (“The Egyptian Today”), Egypt’s only independent daily paper. He is also former Vice President of the liberal opposition Hizb al-Ghad (Tomorrow Party), and has served as Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights. Mr Kassem is a proponent of freedom of press and independent journalism.
