Independent candidate with a liberal party, Pro democracy activist
Ahmed was a member of the Trustees Council of the Revolution – a committee which organised protests in Tahrir Square. More recently he has been working with the Coordination Committee of the Masses which was created to put public pressure on the interim government and the military to see through the demands of the revolution. Ahmed has given commentary to Arabic and international media including the BBC, AlJazeera and France 24. He is a graduate of the American University in Cairo.
